Standard route order
Most pilgrims follow this sequence: Yamunotri → Gangotri → Kedarnath → Badrinath, starting and ending at Haridwar or Dehradun. This order minimizes backtracking across the Garhwal valleys and is the route most taxi operators, including us, plan around by default.
Sample 11-day itinerary
- Day 1: Haridwar/Dehradun to Barkot (halt near Yamunotri base)
- Day 2: Yamunotri darshan (trek from Janki Chatti), return to Barkot or Uttarkashi
- Day 3: Barkot to Uttarkashi to Gangotri
- Day 4: Gangotri darshan, drive to Uttarkashi
- Day 5: Uttarkashi to Guptkashi (long drive day)
- Day 6: Guptkashi to Gaurikund, trek to Kedarnath, darshan and overnight at Kedarnath
