About Chopta
Chopta, often called the "Mini Switzerland of Uttarakhand," is a high-altitude meadow region in Rudraprayag district surrounded by dense forests and Himalayan peaks. It serves as the base for the trek to Tungnath, the highest Shiva temple in the world, and further up to Chandrashila peak, which offers panoramic views of the Himalayan range including Nanda Devi and Chaukhamba. It has become one of the fastest-growing trending destinations in Uttarakhand for both trekkers and casual travelers.
Why It Is Famous
Chopta is famous for the Tungnath Temple trek (one of the Panch Kedar shrines), Chandrashila summit views, meadows ideal for camping, and being one of the most photographed landscapes in Uttarakhand in recent years.
